Nesting Newbies was Lea McIntosh's brainchild born out of a passion to teach and a discovery that most new nesters lacked both basic skills in the kitchen and easy ways to entertain with confidence. Lea teamed up with Jodi Murphy and other Bay Area creatives to launch the Nesting Newbies brand, a cross platform experience featuring a quarterly digital shelter magazine, online cooking segments, and an informational blog with a mission to show those who are new to nesting how to cook, entertain, and decorate. Nesting Newbies Magazine aimed to inspire readers, making them feel comfortable about home-keeping their way. The overall message was that cooking, entertaining, and stylish decorating could be easy, fun, and affordable. Chef Lea McIntosh shared her expertise and original recipes in each issue. Readers were shown how to recreate table settings staged by experienced designers. In the Design Chronicles, iconic nesters gave their sage decorating advice and real-home makeovers were covered. Profiles of favorite foodie peeps and bloggers, plus links to new products and resources rounded out the content. The Nesting Newbies brand quickly garnered loyal fans who were asking for more, but Lea and Jodi had to follow their other creative passions and released the last issue in Spring 2012.
